Our Certificate and Diploma Program Options If you elect to grant a certificate or diploma through the auspices of The Urban Ministry Institute at your satellite, we will discuss with you some suggested options. Certificate in Christian Leadership Studies: Capstone ➢ Our Certificate in Christian Leadership Studies , is conferred upon all students who complete the 16 modules of our Capstone Curriculum (32 credits) at an approved satellite of The Urban Ministry Institute ( TUMI ). The modules must be taught by an approved mentor or professor ➢ . The students must read the texts and complete the required quizzes, final exam, and ministry project for each module, attending 10 of the 12 classroom hours per module. Certificate in Urban Theological Studies: Site Approved ➢ Our Certificate in Urban Theological Studies is conferred upon all students who complete 32 credit hours of study at your satellite. You may utilize our curricula resources and/or use a combination of your own courses taught by your qualified instructors (see Appendix 16.1). While you have complete flexibility to select those courses which best meet the needs of your students, you must retain the balance of providing 8 credit hours in each department area: Biblical Studies ➢ , Theology and Ethics, Christian Ministry, and Urban Mission, and at least 50% of the coursework for this certificate must be our TUMI courses. Be creative as you build a training experience that will suit your students’ church and ministry needs. Please know that the TUMI staff are available to advise you in your program and courses of study. Ministerial Studies Diploma: Site Approved ➢ Your students may also pursue our advanced program, the Ministerial Studies Diploma by completing an additional 32 credit hours of study (64 credit hours in total). The program begins with the completion of a required course: the Ministry Assessment Project (see TUMI’s Satellite Resource CD for details on this course). This course helps a student assess their gifts, calling, and ongoing direction in ministry and brings their pastoral or denominational supervisor into the process of designing their diploma program and coordinating it with
➢ You may purchase each module individually and host your program- ming at your own scheduling convenience. ➢ Mentors or professors can earn credit for TUMI classes they teach if approved by an assigned proctor (contact the Satellite Director for more information.) ➢ After you have designed your program, please be certain to send your draft to the Satellite Director of The Urban Ministry Institute for consultation and approval.
➢ In order to qualify for the site-approved Certificate in
Urban Theological Studies, your students must complete our Bible Interpretation course or Old Testament and New Testament Witness to Christ.
