a. 1 John 5.4 – For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith.

b. 1 Cor. 15.57 – But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

c. John 16.33 – I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

4. We should never quit or give up to discouragement or opposition from the enemy, 1 Pet. 5.8-9 – Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. [9] Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.

B. The Key Illustration: Do you function in your Christian walk Wave style or Spike style ?

1. Wave style operates on the basis of being subject to other outward forces which determines where it winds up. It is easily impacted and moved. Spike style is about being driven into a fixed point and refusing to move – period. (Cf. Isa. 54.2 – Enlarge the place of your tent, and let the curtains of your habitations be stretched out; do not hold back; lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes.)
