No Reserves No Retreat No Regrets
Session 2: No Retreat • 47
C. The Key Implications: No one who trusts and obeys Christ need to fear shrinking back; they need never retreat, regardless of what they face.
1. Those who trust in the Lord and his strength will not be ashamed.
a. Ps. 25.1-3 – To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul. [2] O my God, in you I trust; let me not be put to shame; let not my enemies exult over me. [3] Indeed, none who wait for you shall be put to shame; they shall be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous. b. Ps. 31.1-4 – In you, O LORD, do I take refuge; let me never be put to shame; in your righteousness deliver me! [2] Incline your ear to me; rescue me speedily! Be a rock of refuge for me, a strong fortress to save me! [3] For you are my rock and my fortress; and for your name’s sake you lead me and guide me; [4] you take me out of the net they have hidden for me, for you are my refuge. c. Ps. 71.1-3 – In you, O LORD, do I take refuge; let me never be put to shame! [2] In your righteousness deliver me and rescue me; incline your ear to me, and save me! [3] Be to me a rock of refuge, to which I may continually come; you have given the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.
2. Regardless of what lies ahead for you, you need never fear; you will not be moved!
a. Ps. 112.6-8 – For the righteous will never be moved; he will be remembered forever. [7] He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the LORD. [8] His heart is steady; he will not be afraid, until he looks in triumph on his adversaries.
