The Dos of Canvassing: 1. Be prayerful : Only the grace of God can make our contacts fruitful (Matt. 9.35-38). 2. Be prepared : Represent Christ and the gospel with clarity and integrity (1 Pet. 3.15-16). 3. Be expectant : Christ Jesus will accompany us as we go in His name (Matt. 28.20). 4. Be faithful : Respect your commitments and honor your dates (Prov. 20.6). 5. Be alert : Stay aware of your environment, your purpose, and your audience (1 Pet. 5.8-9). 6. Be yourself : God can use anyone to be His ambassador (2 Cor. 5.20). The Don’ts of Canvassing: 1. Don’t be anxious : Worry about nothing, but bathe the enterprise in prayer (Phil. 4.6-7). 2. Don’t be intimidated : We go forth in the name and authority of Christ (Matt. 28.18-19). 3. Don’t be apologetic : God gives us the privilege and duty to share (John 15.16). 4. Don’t be isolated : Even Christ sent out his apostles in pairs (Mark 6.7). 5. Don’t be pushy : God makes all things beautiful in His time (Eccles. 3.11). 6. Don’t be insensitive : Study and know the people with whom you interact (1 Cor. 9.19-21).
