Take a few minutes and meditate on this hymn: “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus” O soul, are you weary and troubled? No light in the darkness you see? There’s light for a look at the Savior, And life more abundant and free. Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face, And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, In the light of His glory and grace. Exercise:
Take a moment and write down what is currently worrying you or causing you to be fearful. Pray over your list and give each worry to Christ. Then, pray the following prayer which is based on Philippians 4.6-7. Dear Father, help me not be anxious about anything—because I know you are in control of everything. Help me to remember to come to you with my requests instead of trying to solve everything on my own. Thank you for the many ways you have blessed me—I can look back and see your hand upon my life. I humbly ask for your peace, which surpasses all understanding. Please guard my heart and keep my mind focused on you. Amen. Now what? Take what you’ve learned and apply it to your community! Community Connection: Take some time to walk around your community where your church or ministry is located. Begin to write down what you see: what is the state of the buildings, parks, houses, apartments, etc. Do you see what God sees, or do you see things through eyes of fear? For those areas that cause fear in your heart, pray for God to increase your faith. 22
