B. Planning is important, but plans will always need updating.

Plans are nothing; planning is everything.

~ Dwight D. Eisenhower

1. Planning produces freshness, but plans will often grow stale.

2. Planning forces us to respect the current situation (i.e., “to look again, to consider anew), while allegiance to old plans may or may not now be relevant. 3. Planning opens you up to dialogue, but commitment to old plans may freeze you into commitments in pursuing bad directions.

One very important aspect of motivation is the willingness to stop and to look at things that no one else has bothered to look at. This simple process of focusing on things that are normally taken for granted is a powerful source of creativity. ~ Edward de Bono

C. Flexibility ensures successful execution

1. Walk in the Spirit: let everything you do be informed by an openness to the Spirit’s word and prompting, Gal. 5.16.

2. Quench not the Spirit: do not refuse the Holy Spirit’s instruction and leading through the Word, through others, and through circumstances, 1 Thess. 5.19.

3. Be led by the Spirit: act on what the Holy Spirit tells you, promptly and completely, Rom. 8.14.
