“What’d you mean?” asked Preacher. “Let’s say you were Jonah,” I suggested, “and that you were swallowed by the whale when your grandmother was murdered.” “Okay,” said Preacher, “now what?” “Exactly,” I agreed, “now what will you do?” Preacher, confused, looked at Joseph who shrugged. “What did Jonah do after he was swallowed by the whale, Preacher?” I asked. Preacher grinned. “Jonah prayed, the whale puked, and Jonah preached!” he said, quoting one of his own sermon titles, “I guess that means I got find those guys who killed my granny and preach to ’em.”
