C. Teaching gifts seek to equip the saints for the work of the ministry, to build believers up so they can be fruitful in Christ.

1. God has called believers to good works, Eph. 2.10.

2. The gifts of the Spirit are given in order to prepare and outfit growing believers to do the work of the ministry so the body would become mature.

D. Teaching guards the growing disciples against the threat of heresy, schism, dead orthodoxy, and spiritual immaturity.
