In this lesson we focused on how the Holy Spirit affects every dimension of the effective preaching ministry, and looked briefly at the three critical dimensions of planning the preaching ministry. We must first establish contact with hearers, communicate the content of the Word clearly and boldly, and finally strive to make connections with the truth of the message and the lives of the audience. In all of these efforts, we must never forget that it is only the Holy Spirit who makes the delivered Word effective in our preaching. In our next lesson we will focus on the teaching ministry, the ministry of didache , and begin to explore how we equip others by teaching the Word of God by the power of the Holy Spirit. We define and provide an overview of the concept of teaching in the NT, beginning with Jesus and the apostles, and see the benefit of the teaching ministry in the Church. Like the ministry of preaching, we must do all we can to recover and enliven the ministry of teaching in our urban churches in order to build the Kingdom in our communities.
