Undoubtedly you have some questions on the study of eschatology, and the biblical teaching on death and the intermediate state. Please take as much time as you have available to answer these and other questions that the video brought out. Be clear and concise in your answers, and where possible, support with Scripture! 1. What is the meaning of the theological term eschatology ? Why should the preaching and study of eschatology be a priority in the curricula of any Christian worker, pastor, or urban missionary? 2. What are some of the reasons that Scripture gives to the Church that we must study the doctrine of last things in conjunction with the consummation of the Kingdom? 3. Should Christians grieve the death of loved ones like those who do not know the Lord? Why or why not? 4. Why is it necessary for believers who cling to the hope of the Kingdom consummated to be sober and watchful regarding the time of Christ’s appearing? 6. What are some of the general elements taught in Scripture in regards to death? What is the difference between physical and spiritual death? How are they the same? 7. What are the key effects of death outlined in Scripture? What are some of the differences between what death means for the non-Christian over against the Christian? 8. What is the meaning of the theological term intermediate state , and why is it important for ministering to the bereaved? 9. Howwould you define the view of the intermediate state as “soul sleep” and as “purgatory?” What is the biblical evidence for these views, and do you find them persuasive? 10. Define the view of the intermediate state as the presence of the Lord for Christians only. Do you find the biblical evidence here compelling? Why or why not? 5.
