b. It will be heralded by the archangel’s trumpet blast, 1 Thess. 4.16.

c. It will be accompanied by the presence of angels, Matt. 24.31.

d. It will be associated with Christ Jesus taking up his kingly authority on his throne, judging and reigning over the nations, Matt. 25.31-46.

5. His coming will be unexpected .

a. It is portrayed as coming swiftly, like a thief in the night, with many being completely unaware of his return, 1 Thess. 5.1.

b. The parable of the ten virgins in Matthew 25 suggests this truth.

c. Peter suggests that his delayed coming may cause some to scoff, but the promise is sure, 2 Pet. 3.3-4.

d. Jesus says that it will come with surprise like in the days of Noah, and the time of Lot - swiftly, unexpectedly, and with great surprise, Luke 17.26-30.

6. His coming will be a unified event .

a. Some believers profess a kind of dual coming (one in secret “for the saints,” and a second phase in public, after the seven year tribulation period, a “coming with the saints”).
