Kingdom Texts in the Old Testament

Exod. 19.3-6 (ESV) - . . . while Moses went up to God. The L ORD called to him out of the mountain, saying, “Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the people of Israel: [4] You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. [5] Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine; [6] and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words that you shall speak to the people of Israel.” 2 Sam. 7.12-16 (ESV) - When your days are fulfilled and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, who shall come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. [13] He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. [14] I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son. When he commits iniquity, I will discipline him with the rod of men, with the stripes of the sons of men, [15] but my steadfast love will not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away from before you. [16] And your house and your kingdom shall be made sure forever before me. Your throne shall be established forever.’” 1 Chron. 14.2 (ESV) - And David knew that the L ORD had established him as king over Israel, and that his kingdom was highly exalted for the sake of his people Israel. 1 Chron. 16.20 (ESV) - . . . wandering from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people . . . 1 Chron. 17.11-14 (ESV) - When your days are fulfilled to walk with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom.
