The objective of this segment is to show how the Church of Jesus Christ, as his body and agent, is itself the locus (the place and/or context) of God’s salvation, of the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit, and of the authentic expression of the Kingdom’s life and witness. Our objective for this first segment of God’s Reign Invading is to enable you to see that:

I. The Church Is the Locus and Arena of God’s Salvation.

General comments about the Church:
• God’s Kingdom (his reign and rule) is invading the world through the Church of Jesus Christ. • The community of the triune God: the people of God (2 Cor. 6.16), the body of Christ, with Jesus as its head (Eph. 1.22-23), and the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 3.16-17).
Ekklesia’s two meanings:
•
1) The union of all true believers in Christ, living and dead. Sometimes this concept is referred to as “The Church Universal.”
