If you are interested in pursuing some of the ideas of The Messiah Announced , you might want to give these books a try: Beasley-Murray, G. R. Jesus and the Kingdom of God . Grand Rapids: Eerdmans, 1986. Ladd, George Eldon. The Presence of the Future . Rev. ed. Grand Rapids: Eerdmans, 1974. Now you want to explore the practical ministry connections that the teaching regarding the announcement of Jesus’ Messianic ministry may have for you in your life and ministry setting. In reviewing all the different issues associated with Jesus’ arrival and appearance to the world, which particular issues stand out to you as those which you need to be thinking and praying about for this next week and period? In surveying some of the critical concerns highlighted in this lesson, which one in particular does the Holy Spirit suggest requires your further meditation, study, and application? Is there a particular person or ministry situation that comes to mind when you reflect on the meaning of the announcement of Messiah? Allow time to leisurely review this material for the express purpose of listening to the Lord through it, seeing what ideas, issues, or insights he wants you to apply, pursue, and study further. Pray to the Lord with thanksgiving for the reality that his ancient promise of a Messiah has been fulfilled in the person of Jesus of Nazareth. God reveals himself to be one of absolute trustworthiness and faithfulness in the keeping of his prophetic covenant to Abraham and the patriarchs, to David as King, and to his people for a Deliverer and Savior. Undoubtedly, there are areas you face today where you need to confidently cling to the faithful promise of God for fulfillment. Allow the Holy Spirit to direct you to those areas and concerns that require the Lord’s faithful intervention and answer, and have others pray for these needs and areas as the Lord leads. The God who was faithful to reveal his Son to us in the fullness of time is likewise faithful to work in the lives of those who cling to him in faith.
