Reading Assignment
Please be aware that you will be quizzed on the content (the video content) of this lesson next week. Make sure that you spend good time reviewing the key concepts of the lesson in your notes. Focus especially on the lesson’s main ideas, and read the assigned reading, and be sure to summarize your reading assignment briefly, with no more than a paragraph or two for each. Give in your own words your best understanding of what you think was the main point in each of the readings. Do not be overly concerned about giving detail; simply write out what you consider to be the main point discussed in that section of the book. Please bring these summaries to class next week. (Please see the Reading Completion Sheet at the end of this lesson.) Having looked carefully at the events surrounding the announcing of Messiah at the beginning of Jesus’ ministry, our next lesson will focus upon the various texts within the New Testament that testify of the different kinds of opposition that Jesus of Nazareth attracted as he fulfilled his role as the promised Messiah of God. In both spiritual and social realms, Messiah Jesus was opposed in his role as God’s anointed Savior of the world.
