2. His blood cleanses our consciences from dead works to worship and serve God in truth and faith, Heb. 9.13-14.

3. We do not approach God on our own righteousness and honor. Rather through the high priestly ministry of Jesus, we can now draw near to our holy God with full assurance of faith, Heb. 10.21-22.

G. Set free in Jesus, we have been given the Holy Spirit to provide us with the power to bring acceptable worship to God.

1. First, the Spirit makes us ministers of the new covenant, a covenant of faith in Jesus and not in the works of the Law, 2 Cor. 3.4-6.

2. As we are filled with the Spirit, the high worship and praise of God is expressed in the assembly of believers, Eph. 5.18-20.

II. How the Church Practices its Worship to God

A. Through our services and lifestyle of Praise and Thanksgiving

Based on the pattern of God’s people Israel, the Church is exhorted to celebrate in its worship and praise of God. The Scriptures are filled with specific instruction and encouragement on how we ought to show our love and gratitude to Almighty God through our praise and thanksgiving.

1. Above all forms of worship, we are to worship God in the freedom that Christ has provided for us, Phil. 3.2-3. We have been set free in Christ from trying to please God in our own power, and now we worship him from the heart, filled with gratitude and joy. How are we to worship God when we gather together?
