III. Let Us Summarize this Important Segment with Several Observations Regarding the Deep Meaning and Implication of God’s Election.

A. The first implication is that God’s elective choice highlights the glory of his sovereignty and lordship in the world. As in all things, God is Lord, even in regards to salvation.

1. The Lord has made everything for its purpose, even the wicked for the day of trouble, Prov. 16.4.

2. God’s sovereign purpose for us will be accomplished, so our salvation is sure and secure, Rom. 8.31-34.

3. When none are found worthy to take the scroll from him who sits on the throne, a Lamb as if freshly slain takes the honor, and the heavenly creatures declare his worthiness to open the scroll, Rev. 5.9-10.

4. God’s election of Christ, Israel, the Church, and the saints reveals his sovereign choice and holy character. He is Lord alone.

B. Another implication of God’s election is that his election reveals the wonders of God’s grace.

2. In God’s electing purpose, he reveals the richness of his lovingkindness to us, a love which was given us before the ages began but now is revealed to us in the person of Jesus Christ.
