Fleshing Out the Universal Priesthood, continued
a. 1 Pet. 2.4-5 – As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, [5] you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. b. 1 Pet. 2.9 – But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. c. Rev. 1.5-6 – and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood [6] and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. 1. We ought to tell of his righteous acts all the day, Ps. 71.15 – My mouth will tell of your righteous acts, of your deeds of salvation all the day, for their number is past my knowledge. 2. His steadfast love and faithfulness should linger in our mouths, Ps. 89.1 – I will sing of the steadfast love of the Lord, forever; with my mouth I will make known your faithfulness to all generations. 3. Every day is an opportunity to acknowledge him, Ps. 145.2 – Every day I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever. 4. His mercies are new each morning, Lam. 3.22-23 – The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; [23] they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
