f. As God’s people we are charged with showing forth his excellencies and glory to the nations, 1 Pet. 2.9 – But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
5. Central principles
a. The triune God is the object of worship: for who he is and what he has done for us through the person of Christ. (1) No other God save Yahweh is to be worshiped, Exod. 20.2-3 – I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. [3] You shall have no other gods before me. (2) 1 Cor. 8.5-6 – For although there may be so-called gods in heaven or on earth – as indeed there are many “gods” and many “lords” – [6] yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist. (3) At the majesty of the work of Christ, Rev. 5.5-10 – And one of the elders said to me, “Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.” [6] And between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders I saw a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, with seven horns and with seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. [7] And he went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who was seated on the throne. [8] And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp,
