B. B REAK IT DOWN ! God’s armor has divine power to destroy strongholds, arguments, and every lofty opinion raised against God’s knowledge, 2 Cor. 10.3-5
1. We don’t fight people, but spiritual forces that oppose the Lord, Eph. 6.10-12
2. God’s armor allows us to stand our ground, and withstand the onslaught of the enemy, no matter what he throws against us, Eph. 6.13
3. God’s full armor covers us perfectly, both defensively and offensively
Acts 28:16 – And when we came into Rome, Paul was allowed to stay by himself, with the soldier who guarded him.
Acts 28:20 – For this reason, therefore, I have asked to see you and speak with you, since it is because of the hope of Israel that I am wearing this chain.
a. The belt of truth: our faith is anchored on God’s unfailing promise and testimony, 1 John 5.11-13
b. The breastplate of righteousness: our righteousness in Christ which leads to sanctifying, righteous living in the Spirit, Rom. 6.13
c. The readiness given by the Gospel of peace (our shoes): stable, surefooted stance given by the Gospel, enabling us to stand in the fight d. The shield of faith: 2 ½’ wide, 4' long, overlaid with linen and leather, protecting the warrior, and all other pieces of armor (i.e., “extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one,” v. 16)
