e. The helmet of salvation: the instrument of safety to protect one’s head against all blows, intentional or random (cf. 1 Thess. 5.8)

f. The sword of the Spirit (the Word of God, “ rhema ”): the one offensive weapon mentioned, sharp, potent, effective (cf. Jesus doing battle with the devil in the wilderness, Matt. 4.1-11)

g. Praying at all times in the Spirit: our use of God’s weaponry must be bathed and saturated in constant prayer and dependence on the Spirit, Zech. 4.6

C. C HECK THIS OUT . Regardless of the battle, God’s armor, if used properly and constantly, will help us win the day!

1. It can destroy strongholds, arguments, and lofty opinions, 2 Cor. 10.3-5

2. It can guarantee that we stand firm, in both freedom and victory, as we move forward to take ground for Christ (note: there is no armor for the back, only for the front!), Eph. 6.13

3. It can provide us with all we need to defend against the world, the flesh, and the devil in close encounter, daily combat with our enemies, 1 John 2.11-15; Gal. 5.16-23; James 4.4

D. M AKE IT P LAIN . We must learn through practice and prayer to employ God’s heavenly armor, for it alone can enable us to stand our ground in spiritual battle!
