3. The bondage is too deep; it requires divine intervention, i.e., spiritual deliverance by spiritual means, i.e., the power of darkness cannot be overcome save with Christ’s divine power, Col. 1.13; Isa. 49.24-25; Matt. 12.28-30

Matthew 12:28-29 – But if it is by the Spirit of God that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. 29 Or how can someone enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? Romans 13:14 – But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.

Good Pretense Revisited: You Must Learn to Think and Act Like A Warrior

At the moment of conversion, all of God's resources are available to us. Unfortunately, nobody pushes the "clear" button in our previously programmed minds. Until God's transformation process begins in our lives, we live in a state of being conformed to this world and regimented by it. That's why Paul writes, "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will" (Rom. 12.2, N IV). Therefore-

• the major task of Christian education is to disciple previously programmed people, living independent of God, into a dependant relationship with Him.

• the major task of discipleship/counseling is to free people from their past and eradicate old defense mechanisms by substituting Christ as their only defense.
