Band of Brothers - Why We Fight
SIAFU Mens Conference, Band of Brothers: Why We Fight Rev. Dr. Don L. Davis, p. 46
Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your homes.”
2. The true warrior accepts the challenge of the fight: David accepts Goliath’s challenge (along with the promise of glory for God!), 1 Sam. 17.1-25
3. To win this war will require everything: those who are unwilling to sacrifice all for Christ will simply not win at all, Acts 20.24 Acts 20:24 But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God. (cf. Rom. 8.35- 39; 1 Cor. 15.58; 2 Cor. 4.1, 16-18)
B. B REAK IT DOWN ! The laws of the harvest apply to the warrior, too!
1. In spiritual warfare, we will reap what we sow, Gal. 6.7-8
2. We must engage in the fight now, know that, whether we see the victory or not, God will come through with his own plan, Eccles. 11.1-6
3. We reap at a different season than when we sow; the fight we engage in today may provide victory days, months, even years from now, Mark 4.3-8
4. We only obtain the victory if we do not shrink back and give up; we must learn to endure hardship in order that we may stand in the evil day, Gal. 6.10
5. Facing down our enemy demands our faithfulness, no matter what may occur or happen, 2 Cor. 5.7
