Band of Brothers - Why We Fight

SIAFU Mens Conference, Band of Brothers: Why We Fight Rev. Dr. Don L. Davis, p. 47

6. Ultimately, every spiritual warrior must personally count the cost of his service to Christ: to attain all, you must give your all, Luke 14.33

C. C HECK THIS OUT . Nothing is as devastating in a wartime situation than a brother who acts cowardly (cowardice undermines everything that we stand for together and with one another!)

1. Cowardice is catchy, but it often starts with simple, negative, and doubtful talk, Num. 13.25-29

2. Cowardice tends to inflate the strength of the enemy and deflate the opportunity of our band, Num. 13.30-33

3. Cowardice ultimately dishonors God and interferes with his will for our lives: 40 years in the wilderness (a year for each day of searching!), Num. 14.26-35

D. M AKE IT P LAIN . We must die to ourselves in order to live unto God–and for one another, and the fight we are in!

1. So what? Only if we count ourselves to be dead in Christ, can others come to live through us, John 12.24-26; Matt. 10.39; 16.25

2. What you got to get: To be the kind of warrior you can be, you must count yourself as already spent, given over, and surrendered to Christ–only then can he use you without interference! Rom. 6.1-13; Gal. 6.14; 2 Cor. 5.14-15; Only through a determination to gain the reward of Christ, at any cost, can we attain to the warfare to which we are called, 1 Cor. 15.58; 2 Pet. 3.14-15; 1 Cor. 16.13
