c. The righteousness of the Law is being fulfilled in us, not by us, in the Holy Spirit.

2. We have been set free from empty efforts of dead works to please God on our own merit and strength.

a. We are saved by grace through faith, not of works, Eph. 2.8-9.

b. There remains a rest to children of God, that they now can cease from their dead works to serve God in truth, Heb. 4.9-10.

c. Our consciences have now been cleansed and purged because of the blood of Christ and God’s acceptance of him on the cross, Heb. 9.13-14.

3. We have been set free from the devil’s tyranny, especially his manipulation of the fear of death, Heb. 2.14-15.

a. Through the cross, Christ has made an open show of the principalities and powers, Col. 2.15.
