C. We are not to use our freedom as a license or cover for sin, but as an opportunity to fulfill the Great Commandment, i.e., love and care for others.
1. Peter exhorts us not to use our freedom as a covering for evil, but rather to live as servants of God, 1 Pet. 2.16.
2. Use your freedom as an opportunity to show love to all, but especially those of the household of faith, Gal. 5.13.
3. God allows us to be free in order to love others.
a. We are to become all things to all people in order to save them, 1 Cor. 9.19-23.
b. We are free to use anything that is not outside the will of God to win others to him, 1 Cor. 3.21-23.

D. Purposes for which we are called to use our freedom in Christ.
1. For the things that are profitable , 1 Cor. 6.12a - “All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful.”
2. Not for anything that is injurious and addictive , 1 Cor. 6.12b - “All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything.”
3. Only for that which is edifying , 1 Cor. 10.23 - “All things are lawful, but not all things are helpful. All things are lawful, but not all things build up.”
