Concentrate now on helping the students think dialogically , that is, with the ability to emphasize two complimentary truths which may unnecessarily be juxtaposed (pit against) to each other. Evangelism is both about proclamation and demonstration in the same way that Jesus is both human and divine . These truths do not fight one another, they support and complement each other. In order for the students to comprehend the intricacies of evangelism, they will have to think dialogically; evangelism is both private and public, showing and telling, individual and communal, by the gifted and by layman, etc. Concentrate on ensuring that the students understand the answers in light of the dialogical (i.e., two or through logic) nature of evangelistic theology. The Nicene Creed is used within the Capstone Curriculum as the baseline and meaning of what a solid evangelical theology is. We believe that it is a solid summary of historic orthodox faith, and was used for centuries as the criteria for ordaining leaders in the Church. That is, if leaders were found with the ability to defend the Nicene Creed from the Scriptures, they were deemed ordainable and authoritative within the Church. The Creed’s outline regarding Jesus brings the question of evangelism and ministry into focus. The actual Christological section of the Creed provides a full, rich, and concise outline of the person and work of Christ, and therefore gives a solid outline for understanding the objective historical foundation for the Gospel. For those whose ministries will involve the presentation of the Good News among the lost, nothing helps or provides more direction as an extra-biblical document than the Nicene Creed. It covers the person of Christ from pre-incarnation to the Second Coming and the eternal Kingdom, and does so concisely and clearly. Enabling your students to grasp and defend the Creed provides them with an invaluable aid to summarize and defend the historic Christian faith (Gospel).
