E. Jesus’ words produce division among the Jews, 10.19-21.

1. Jesus’ words provoked division among the people who heard him, 10.19.

2. First Response: He is demon-possessed and insane: why listen to him? , 10.20.

3. Second Response: Demon-possessed people don’t speak like this: can demon-possessed people open the eyes of the blind? , 10.21.

II. I and the Father Are One, 10.22-42

A. Jesus’ declaration of his identity at the Feast of Dedication, 10.22-31

1. Note the setting of this exchange with the Jews, 10.22-23.

2. The fateful question: “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly,” 10.24.

3. Jesus’ response: My words and my works I have done in the Father’s name bear witness to my true identity, but you do not believe me because you are not mine, 10.25.

4. My sheep, 10.27-30

a. They hear my voice, I know them, and they follow me, 10.27.
