a. Convicting of sin : because they do not believe in me , 16.8 (cf. John 3.18 – Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is con demned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.)

b. Convicting of righteousness: because I go to the Father, and you see me no longer , 16.10 (cf. 2 Cor. 5.21 – For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.)

c. Convicting of judgment: the ruler of this world is judged , 16.11 (cf. Col. 2.15 – He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.)

B. The future work of the Holy Spirit, 16.12-15

1. The power of sorrow can interfere with your ability to hear and understand, 16.12.

2. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth . Why?, 16.13

a. He will not speak on his own authority, 16.13b.

b. Whatever he hears he will speak, 16.13c.

c. He will declare to you the things to come , 16.13d.

3. The result of the Spirit’s ministry: He will glorify me , 16.14.
