a. Now we know that you know all things, and do not need anyone to question you .

b. It is for this reason that we believe that you came from God , 16.30.

2. Jesus’ understanding of a time when the disciples won’t believe, 16.31a.

a. The hour is coming, indeed it has come , when you will be scattered each to his own home.

b. The power isolation of the Lord on Golgotha: and will leave me alone, 16.31b

3. Jesus’ God consciousness: Yet, I am not alone, for the Father is with me, 16.32.

4. The reason for Jesus’ words: That in me you might have peace, 16.33a

5. The certainty of believers’ lives in the world: In the world you will have tribulation, 16.33b.

a. Acts 14.22 – Strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying that through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.

b. Rom. 8.36 – As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”
