a. The subject of the conversation on the Mount of Transfiguration, Luke 9.30-31 – And behold, two men were talking with him, Moses and Elijah, [31] who appeared in glory and spoke of his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.
b. Jesus called it his “baptism,” Luke 12.50 – I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how great is my distress until it is accomplished!
c. Everything written about the Son of Man must be fulfilled , Luke 18.31 – And taking the twelve, he said to them, “See, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written about the Son of Man by the prophets will be accomplished.” d. Every Messianic prophecy citation will have its fulfillment, Luke 22.37 – “For I tell you that this Scripture must be fulfilled in me: ‘And he was numbered with the transgressors.’ For what is written about me has its fulfillment.”

3. Jesus receives the wine, and says “It is finished!” , 19.30b.
4. He bows his head and gave up his spirit, 19.30c.
G. Jesus’ side is pierced, 19.31-37.
1. Ironic preparation for the Jewish holy day: the Jews ask Pilate that their legs might be broken and their bodies taken away , 19.31.
