1. Evangelism is described as the message and content of the Good News of God’s love in Christ ( evangelion ), preaching , or suffering for Christ .

a. Evangelion as “good message, good tidings” – “In the NT it denotes the salvation through Christ, to be received by faith on the basis of His expiatory death, His burial, resurrection, and ascension, cf. Acts 15.7, 20.24; 1 Pet. 4.17” ( Vine’s Expository Dictionary , pp. 275).

b. Evangelism as presentation and preaching

(1) To preach as a herald, Matt. 4.23; Gal. 2.2

(2) To speak forth, 1 Thess. 2.2

(3) To testify thoroughly, Acts 20.24

c. Evangelism as life demonstration

(1) To labor with, Phil. 4.3

(2) To suffer hardship with, 2 Tim. 1.8
