B. Why must everyone be converted (reborn by faith in Christ) in order to become God’s child and to grow in him?

1. Jesus died and rose to ensure it, Rom. 1.1-4.

2. He commands us to become his disciples and be baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Matt. 28.18-20.

3. We can only become members of God’s family by being born anew by faith in Christ, 1 John 3.1-3.

4. Christ defeated our enemies on the Cross to guarantee our conversion, 1 John 3.8; 2 Cor. 4.4; John 8.32ff.
