c. We confess and forsake our sinful lifestyle, Luke 15.18, 18.13; Prov. 28.13; Isa. 55.7.

d. We turn to God through faith in Christ, Acts 26.18; 1 Thess. 1.19.

e. We make restitution and restoration as God leads, Luke 19.8-9.

2. We must believe .

Faith: pistis (we believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, 1 John 5.11-13)

a. We accept what the apostles tell us in the New Testament about the work of Jesus of Nazareth, 1 Cor. 15.1-4 (i.e., he came, he suffered and died for our sins, on the third day he rose again, and he appeared to witnesses).

b. We confess Jesus as Lord of all, Rom. 10.9.

c. We believe in our hearts that God raised him from the dead.

D. What happens when we believe the Good News?: Regeneration and Adoption

1. We become regenerated and are given a new heart and life!

a. We experience the “new birth,” Titus 3.5; John 3.5-6.
