Managing Projects for Ministry
56 Manag i ng Pro j ec t s for Mi n i s t r y
a. Struggling with all his energy, Col. 1.28-29 – Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. [29] For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me. b. Our sufficiency is from God, 2 Cor. 3.4-6 – Such is the confidence that we have through Christ toward God. [5] Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God, [6] who has made us competent to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
C. Pursue excellence in everything you do for the Lord.
1. All project management ought to defer to the Stakeholder, our Audience of One, Eph. 6.5-8 – Slaves, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ, [6] not by the way of eye- service, as people-pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, [7] rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man, [8] knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free.
a. Meeting the specifications of stakeholders is not the same as becoming a people pleaser.
b. It is not possible to compromise the standards of the Kingdom and be a servant of the Lord both, Gal. 1.10 – For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.
