a. Operate it through the local church. This is a good option, provided that proper care is given to identify clearly the lines of responsibility, authority, and accountability between the church and the Institute itself. This demands that you seek to integrate your structure within the local church, outline the channels of communication, financial oversight, leadership, and ensure all responsibilities are clearly known. b. Associate with a denomination, whether at the state or district level. Denominations are extremely helpful in bringing resources together for the sake of training and equipping leaders. c. Associate with a group of churches from a variety of denominations. This allows a deep sense of cooperation and camaraderie between traditions all committed to equipping leaders among the urban poor. d. Function under the oversight of a para-church, mission, or other kind of Christian organization (whether Christian camp, college, or development ministry). e. If you are starting your satellite as a separate ministry, make sure you comply with your state laws concerning the establishment and operation of your new ministry. 5. Appoint a satellite site coordinator who will oversee the formation, operation, and growth of the Institute. Your satellite will rise and fall with the selection of the appropriate person to lead this endeavor. He or she must be a committed Christian, a leader with a solid reputation and a mature spiritual walk with Christ, and have a vision for the city. He or she should not be a young Christian, and must have sufficient experience in Christian leadership to lead and guide the training of lay and pastoral leaders. This is a critical position, and one which should be filled by a solid churchman and a committed disciple of Jesus dedicated to equipping leaders for the urban church. (See Appendix 6 for the Role and Responsibilities of the Site Coordinator.) 6. Organize your satellite office and classroom facilities. In order to run your Institute properly, you will need to obtain all the necessary facilities, equipment, and materials for your extension site. Take the time to select, reserve and prepare classroom facilities in anticipation for your first classes. Purchase or acquire the necessary equipment for your classroom training times, including a television
