Take a moment and pray before reading the following passage. Pray that God will open your heart and mind to the truth of his Word. If you have time, read the passage more than once—underlining things that stand out to you. “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.” 1 Peter 5.8-9 Heavenly Father and Great God, we come before you, asking that you give us the desire to seek you in prayer, fasting, and Bible study. We understand that having a firm grip on you is the only way to resist our adversary, the devil, who is always trying to see who he can devour. Help us resist and reaffirm ourselves in faith. I pray this for our dear brothers and sisters who suffer with us all around the world. Please take care of us, Jesus. Amen.
