Day 19
Take a moment and pray before reading the following passage. Pray that God will open your heart and mind to the truth of his Word. If you have time, read the passage more than once—underlining things that stand out to you. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.” Galatians 5.22-25 Spirit of the Living God, thank you for the bounty of your harvest. As laborers of the kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ we carry your fruit in the city. We will share love on each table we assemble around. Joy will spill from our barrels as we quench the thirst of children playing in the streets. Peace will become our shield in times of riot, turmoil, and outcry. Forbearance will be our teacher in times of uncertainty and confusion. We will not ignore the kindness you display every day to loved ones and strangers. We will give you glory for the tenderness that wipes away tears. You are faithful to each generation; we will take our stand on each corner of the city. Help us display the gentle mercy you have poured out on the cross. As soldiers in your care Lord, we submit to your control. Amen.
