Day 20

Take a moment and pray before reading the following passage. Pray that God will open your heart and mind to the truth of his Word. If you have time, read the passage more than once—underlining things that stand out to you. “For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 1.5-8 Our Heavenly Father, we thank you for the provision you have prepared for us. We are your children who seek your holy wisdom in order to grow strong in the faith by submitting to you and only you. We wish to give you praise and honor by declaring to the world through our actions (in faith) of the knowledge that everything comes from you. Dear Father, it is your Holy Spirit which helps us to do good and not evil, for it is through your Spirit that we can achieve self-control. When we learn to wait on your Holy Spirit’s guidance, we are able to persevere regardless of the challenges and the battles we encounter in this world. May we continue to grow in the love given to us by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in order to serve you, our church, our community and our fellow brothers and sisters. May the glory be yours forever. Amen.
