Represent Retreat Book
e. This breakfast by the sea represents a turning point for Peter. The awkward, loud, and brash Peter we meet in the Gospels becomes the bold preacher and pastor of the Book of Acts. f. The Point : The change in Peter is a change in who he represents. He truly dies to himself and the wreckage caused by acting in his own strength. From this point on, he shamelessly represents Christ and his kingdom.
Representation vs. Resumés
1. A Righteous Resumé (Acts 4.7–14)
a. Peter and John have no standing in the eyes of the Pharisees. (Acts 4.13) i. They have no qualifications except the name of Jesus and the filling of the Holy Spirit! (Acts 4.8–12) ii. The Pharisees have all the qualifications in the world!
b. Resumés mean nothing to Christ and his Kingdom.
i. Your bad resumé does not disqualify you. ii. Your exceptional resumé does not exalt you.
2. A Real Representative (Acts 4.15–22)
a. Peter and John knew who they represented.
