4. For Jesus and the Apostles, the Second Coming of Jesus was certain, definite, and absolutely sure.

B. The Second Coming of Jesus Christ is also imminent (able to occur at any time).

1. The parousia is both imminent and unknown.

a. Jesus said that neither he, nor angels, nor anyone knows the time of his coming except his Father, Mark 13.32-33 and Matt. 24.36-44.

b. The Father has set the time in his own authority, Acts 1.7.

c. Since the coming was unknown, the Apostles gave numerous reminders to be alert, sober, and ready for his imminent, yet unknown return, 1 Thess. 5.6-9.

C. The Second Coming of Jesus Christ will be glorious and magnificent. What will be its character?
