destroy the city and the sanctuary. Its end shall come with a flood, and to the end there shall be war. Desolations are decreed.

Mark 8.31 - And he began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes and be killed, and after three days rise again. Mark 9.31 - for he was teaching his disciples, saying to them, “The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill him. And when he is killed, after three days he will rise.” Mark 10.45 - For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. Luke 9.22 - saying, “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.” Luke 9.31 - who appeared in glory and spoke of his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. John 10.11 - I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. John 11.51 - He did not say this of his own accord, but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation. John 12.23-24 - And Jesus answered them, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. [24] Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.”

The heart of the following case studies is getting at the meaning of the idea that Jesus is the Suffering Servant of the Lord .
