Fox, George (1624–1691) – An Englishman who, despite limited formal education, became the principal founder and organizer of the Quakers, a renewal movement within Protestantismthat emphasized the contemplative and experiential dimensions of life with God. G. – Anglican clergyman, missionary and theologian.
