Milton, John (1608–1674) – The great English Puritan poet whose epic poems Paradise Lost (1667) and Paradise Regained (1671) were thoroughly baptized in biblical imagery and themes. Nicholas of Cusa (1401–1464) – A favorite of Tozer’s who was a wide-ranging medieval scholar, a busy church statesman, and above all an eloquent mystic whose heart was captured by his vision of God in Christ.
