3. Thus, the call to witness is a call to experience and to demonstrate in our lives the character and passions of Jesus Christ, loving each other as he has loved us.

b. Making disciples is taking the yoke of Christ upon us and learning of him, Matt. 11.28-30.

c. We are to visibly demonstrate the love with which Christ has loved us, John 13.34-35.

4. And as we go, baptize, and teach, we will be better able to represent Jesus in the world and reveal to the lost the glories of his person and rule through our words, conduct, and actions, 2 Cor. 2.14-17.

Conclusion

» The witness of the Church is summarized in the Great Commission, which has three distinct elements of responsibility for body. » The Church gives witness by going: the Church of Jesus Christ is called to go into all the world and to evangelize the lost. » The Church gives witness by baptizing: the Church is called to baptize new believers in Christ, and through baptism, to incorporate them into Christ’s Church. » The Church gives witness by teaching: the Church of Jesus Christ teaches its members to observe all the things Christ commanded. In so doing, the members of the Church grow to maturity, even to Christlikeness.
