3. We destroy his work by appropriating God’s delivering power over evil.

a. We have Christ’s promise that God will confirm his dynamic Word with power and signs which give testimony to its veracity, or truth.

b. As we proclaim God’s truth, we are assured that the Holy Spirit will confirm the Word of God through miracles and acts of power, Rom. 15.18-19.

C. Finally, as soldiers in God’s army we are to do battle in the Lamb’s war as we overcome evil with good. In the same spirit that our Lord Jesus demonstrated, we are to overcome the malevolent and vicious evil in our world. Yet, we are not to use evil to do so. Rather, we are commanded not to respond to this evil in kind, but, in the Spirit of Jesus Christ, to overcome evil with good.

1. Throughout the New Testament God tells us to follow in Jesus’ steps. On this point, there can be no better pattern for the works of the Church than Jesus himself. We are called to follow in his steps.
